The great thing about Bentley Systems, is there is a licensing option to suit everyone, and CAD Journey is on hand to help you understand what model is best for you, so without further ado, let's get started!
In Bentley, we have 3 ways to License Software:
1. Annual License (Subscribing to the Software for 1 year)
2. Perpetual License (Buying the License Outright)
3. Cloud Service Subscription (Monthly Leasing)
Annual (Virtuosity)License:
- The Annual (Virtuoso) Subscription is newest and most popular option.
- This is a 12-month license subscription that you can simply renew annually (or not).
- Each license is assigned to a specific user (not a floating 'network' license).
- Every annual License comes with free 1-on-1 training and mentoring hours.
Perpetual License:
- This is Bentley's most traditional license type.
- Purchase license in Year 1 and pay an annual SELECT (Maintenance) Fee thereafter.
- Shared Network License (no assignment required).
Cloud Service Subscription (CSS):
- This is a license model which can be compared to a MetroCard, Ventra Card or any other pre-paid travel card.
- You simply project your annual Bentley software license consumption requirements and pre-pay the respective dollar amount into a pre-paid fund.
- Every quarter Bentley reviews your monthly usage and charges you for what you used.
- A CSS can be used on its own or combined with other license types.
